Martha Cooney

Martha Cooney is a writer, performer and educator from Philadelphia. She released her first essay collection, Walk Me Through Your Resume, in 2023. Her solo show based on the book won Best Storytelling Performance in the 2024 Philadelpha Fringe Festival. She is a winner of The Moth GrandSLAM storytelling competition and has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour on NPR.  ​Martha is also the creator of StoryUP Theater, where until 2020 Philly's best improv comedians presented interactive shows based on stories from kids.

Martha writes the regular humor newsletter YO from Martha Cooney and teaches at several colleges in the Philadelphia region.
